Admission Procedure

Eligibility Criteria:

According to the regulation of the Council of Architecture (Minimum Standard of Architectural Education, Regulations 2020):

  • No Candidates shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he/she passed an examination at the end of the 10 + 2 scheme (i.e., 12th Std or II-PUC) of the examination, with a minimum eligibility score of at least 50 %. Aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics also at least passed with a minimum score of 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination or passed the 10+3 Diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 50 % Marks in the aggregate.
  • Also, in either of the above cases, the candidate must have appeared and qualified in the aptitude test in architecture conducted either by NTA (i.e., JEE) or “NATA” conducted by the Council of Architecture.
  • III. Candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria I & II to be eligible for admission to the 1st year of the 5-year bachelor’s degree in architecture Program for the academic session.

NOTE: The above eligibility criteria may vary as and when it is notified by Authorities like UGC, COA, and VTU. For the latest information kindly log, on to the concerned websites.

Admission through CET: (CET College Code: E-266)

The candidates seeking admission under this quota need to necessarily register using the online forms hosted on the KEA website under Architecture counseling and once registered, should regularly check the announcements made on the KEA website.

The candidate must have appeared and qualified in the aptitude test in architecture conducted either by NTA (i.e., JEE) or “NATA” conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Note: KEA will not be conducting any Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. (Architecture Course) as per its existing rules.

Admission through COMED-K: (COMED-K College Code: E-189)

The candidates seeking admission under this quota need to necessarily register using the online forms hosted on the Comed-K website and once registered, should regularly check the announcements made on the Comed-K website.

Candidates should have appeared for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture.

Note: COMEDK will not be conducting any Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch (Architecture Course) as per its existing rules.

The following is the weightage for arriving at the rank list for admission through COMED-K :

Architectural Aptitude – NATA: Minimum 50% of the marks scored by the candidate.

Qualifying Examination: Minimum 50% of the marks scored by the candidate.

The qualifying examination prescribed for admission to B. Arch is 2nd PUC [OR] 10+2 higher secondary or an equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects [OR] a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government and having obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC, ST, and OBC Candidates of Karnataka).

Eligibility for M.Arch (Habitat Design) Admissions

Admission to the Master of Architecture Programme shall be open to all the candidates who have passed B.Arch. Examination of VTU or any other recognized University / Institution. For the foreign degrees Equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities is a must. The candidates who have completed their prerequisite degree through the distance mode education from any University (National or International) are not eligible for admission to M.Arch. Programs under any quota i.e., Government/ Management.

Qualification awarded by the Indian Institute of Architects (AIIA) and recognized by the regulations of Council of Architecture (COA), shall be considered equivalent to B.Arch. The candidates seeking admission to M. Arch. Programs on the basis of IIA Associateship qualification shall qualify the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)

Admission to M.Arch. Programme shall be open to the candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examination. However, in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and Category I, the aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations shall not be less than 45%.

For Admissions through PGCET

Admission can be obtained under two categories:

For Admissions under Management quota

Candidates fulfilling the following minimum qualification may apply for admission to M.Arch.[Habitat Design] Program under Management Quota:

  • Candidates with Bachelors degree in Architecture(B.Arch)or equivalent recognized by Council of Architecture, New Delhi with 50% in the aggregate of all the years of the B.Arch degree examination( (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.)
  • The candidates should be GATE (Architecture) qualified or should have qualified for the Entrance Examination conducted by an authority recognized by Government of Karnataka / VTU/ any other University on approval by Government of Karnataka. Further, there shall be an Admissions Committee for the M.Arch programme consisting of the Principal of the College as the Chairman, Head of the concerned Department, one senior faculty of the concerned Department or Subject Experts as members. The Admissions Committee will select the candidates for admissions through the process of interviews.
