BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning offers Bachelor of Planning (B Plan) is a four-year undergraduate program, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and recognized by AICTE, New Delhi and ITPI, New Delhi. The course is structured across eight semesters, incorporating a blend of theorical concepts and practical applications with 6 weeks of mandatory Practical Training after 4th and 6th semester.
The planning program aims to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for spatial and structured planning in urban development. The content of the program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, integrating policymaking, technological advancements, and community participation to create livable and resilient cities. The program is designed to develop professionals who can analyze, design, and implement planning strategies for urban and regional development, infrastructure, environmental planning, geography and transportation while addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Students who successfully complete their B.Plan course from BMSCA D&P will be eligible for recognition by the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI).
The BMSCA D&P features well-designed, modern studios and technologically equipped classrooms that create an engaging and dynamic learning environment for Planning Studio sessions and theoretical subjects.
The college houses 13 state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops featuring advanced tools and machines to support spatial analysis, research, hands-on learning and practical skill development, thoughtfully integrated to enhance planning pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
The Environmental Lab enables students to study climate-responsive design and sustainability principles. The planning department is equipped with advanced labs and workshops to support spatial analysis, research, and hands-on learning. The GIS and Remote Sensing Lab provides students with access to updated software for spatial mapping, urban analytics, and geospatial data interpretation. This lab enhances learning in ICT, AI, and Big Data analysis, enabling students to conduct in-depth research on urban and regional planning.
The Digital Fabrication Lab, featuring 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, allows students to explore advanced design prototyping. These facilities ensure that students gain both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills essential for architectural practice.
Additionally, physical model-making and design workshops support creative exploration and visualization of planning concepts. These facilities ensure that students gain the technical skills and analytical expertise required for effective spatial and structured planning.
The BMSCA D&P Library & Information Center is a well-equipped, fully automated & digital library with over 12000 books including an exclusive collection of books under 'Planning' discipline. It is one of the best libraries in the region. The Library subscribes over 50 high-quality Journals & Magazines along with a rich resource of e-links for e-books and e-journals. With a nice ambient environment for referencing, the library is a zone of intense reading and enriching knowledge. It is open from 8 Am to 8 PM to facilitate the same under the supervision of three Library staff members."

Eligibility for admission to B Plan Course shall be open to the students who have passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Standard Examination and secured a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate with Mathematics as a compulsory subject along with Physics / Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Electronics / Computer science / Information Technology / Technical Vocational Subjects / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship.
In case of SC, ST and OBC candidates, the minimum aggregate percentage shall be 40%.Candidates from Diploma streams shall not be entitled to any exemption of any subject at the B Plan degree course, hence there is no provisions for lateral entry to the course.
The candidates must have attended qualifying entrance examination (K-CET / COMEDK / JEE Paper 3/2B.)
Kindly Note: Eligibility criteria for B. Plan admissions for AY 2025-26 is subject to the latest admission circulars & Regulation clauses as shall be released by Approval authorities.
