BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning offers Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Interior Design as a four-year undergraduate program, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. The course is structured across eight semesters, the program offers a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with the expertise to design, plan, and construct interior spaces using innovative techniques and industry standards.
This program is tailored for aspiring interior designers seeking to integrate aesthetics with functionality to create sustainable, user-centric environments. Covering a diverse range of interior spaces from residential and commercial projects to hospitality and retail design. Students gain hands-on experience through live projects, industry collaborations, and advanced design studios.
At our institute, students will explore cutting-edge trends in materials, lighting, furniture, and spatial planning, while mastering the latest digital design tools. Through expert mentorship, interactive workshops, and internship opportunities, graduates emerge with the skills, creativity, and confidence to excel in the dynamic field of interior design.
Admission to the first year of the course shall be open to the students, who have passed the two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre- University Board (PUC)/C.B.S.E/ ISC/NIOS/IGCSE/IB/ Boards of other Indian States with any combination of subjects (such as conventional Arts/ Commerce/Science). The three- year Diploma in any branch as recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education shall also be eligible for admission. The students who have done a D.Voc program in the same or allied sector are also eligible to take admission.
The candidates shall have secured a minimum of ‘Pass’ in the qualifying examination, as prescribed by respective boards. The admitting college shall make admission based on a merit list of its own till such a time when the Karnataka Examination Authority or the University or COMEDK or KUPECA introduces a state level Aptitude Test in Design. In the interim, the college’s/institutions’ internal entrance examination serves as the final qualifying criteria for admission merit list.
Candidates coming from Diploma streams shall not be entitled to any exemption of any subject at the B. Des degree course, hence there are no provisions for lateral entry to the course. The students from the diploma stream must take admission to 1st semester only.
Those students who have passed a qualifying examination other than the PUC II examination of the Pre-University Education Board of Karnataka, must obtain an eligibility certificate for seeking admission to B. Des. Degree Program from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.
Kindly Note: Eligibility criteria for B. Des (Interior Design) admissions for AY 2026-27 is subject to the latest admission circulars & Regulation clauses as shall be released by Approval authorities.
The scheme and syllabus for programs at BMS College of Architecture, Design & Planning (BMSCA D&P) are structured in accordance with the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) regulations. The curriculum encompasses a diverse range of subjects, interior design, material and applications, history of interiors-world contemporary, services, computer applications, interior design theory, elective courses that allow students to specialize in their areas of interest.
