BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning offers Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Interior Design as a four-year undergraduate program, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. The course is structured across eight semesters, the program offers a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with the expertise to design, plan, and construct interior spaces using innovative techniques and industry standards.
This program is tailored for aspiring interior designers seeking to integrate aesthetics with functionality to create sustainable, user-centric environments. Covering a diverse range of interior spaces from residential and commercial projects to hospitality and retail design. Students gain hands-on experience through live projects, industry collaborations, and advanced design studios.
At our institute, students will explore cutting-edge trends in materials, lighting, furniture, and spatial planning, while mastering the latest digital design tools. Through expert mentorship, interactive workshops, and internship opportunities, graduates emerge with the skills, creativity, and confidence to excel in the dynamic field of interior design.
The BMSCA D&P features well-designed, modern studios and technologically equipped classrooms that create an engaging and dynamic learning environment for Interior Design Studio sessions and theoretical subjects.
The college houses 13 state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops featuring advanced tools and machines to support spatial analysis, research, hands-on learning and practical skill development, thoughtfully integrated to enhance design pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
The Photography and Media Lab offers a professional setup with green screen, soft boxes, Nanlite lighting, and tripods for both cameras and lights. The spacious studio supports hands-on learning in photography and visual storytelling. As part of our creative initiatives, we have proudly published a student-led photography book titled “Chitra,” which showcases visual narratives and technical excellence.
The Digital Fabrication Lab, featuring 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, allows students to explore advanced design prototyping. These facilities ensure that students gain both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills essential for interior design practices.
Additionally, physical model-making and design workshops support creative exploration and visualization of design concepts. These facilities ensure that students gain the technical skills and creative expertise required for effective interior spatial planning and functional design.
The BMSCA D&P Library & Information Center is a well-equipped, fully automated & digital library with over 12000 books including an exclusive collection of books under 'Design' discipline. It is one of the best libraries in the region. The library subscribes over 50 high-quality Journals & Magazines along with a rich resource of e-links for e-books and e-journals. With a nice ambient environment for referencing, the library is a zone of intense reading and enriching knowledge. It is open from 8 Am to 8 PM to facilitate the same under the supervision of three Library staff members."

Admission to the first year of the course shall be open to the students, who have passed the two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre University Board (PUC)/C.B.S.E / ISC/NIOS/IGCSE/IB/ Boards of other Indian States with any combination of subjects (such as conventional Arts/ Commerce/Science).
The three-year Diploma in any branch as recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education shall also be eligible for admission.
The students who have done a D.Voc program in the same or allied sector are also eligible to take admission. However, these candidates should have obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate.
In case of Karnataka SC, ST, and OBC candidates, the minimum aggregate percentage shall be 40%.
Kindly Note: Eligibility criteria for B. Des admissions for AY 2025-26 is subject to the latest admission circulars & Regulation clauses as shall be released by Approval authorities.
